  We visited Melis in Wigan as a family and overall had a good experience. The starters we ordered were not quite what we expected and were probably the weakest part of the meal. That said, the drinks were excellent, with a huge selection ranging from alcoholic to non-alcoholic options, which was a real highlight. For mains, we ordered the mixed grill and it was good. Not the best mixed grill I’ve had, but still enjoyable and cooked well. We also ordered pizza, which was okay. Nothing outstanding, but decent. The atmosphere was alright and the decor was genuinely amazing. The restaurant itself looks great and feels welcoming. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout our visit, which made a positive difference. Overall, a solid experience. Not perfect, but good enough to rate it 4 stars and worth visiting, especially for the drinks and the setting.

  We visited Melis on New Year’s Eve 2025/26 and came away thoroughly impressed with our overall experience. Given how busy restaurants typically are on such a night, the level of service we received really stood out. We opted for the charcoal grill section of the menu, where both the lamb and chicken were available, and both were cooked beautifully—flavourful, well-seasoned, and clearly prepared with care. Beyond the grill, the menu itself is impressively extensive, offering something for everyone, including a wide selection of pizzas, pastas, and even burgers. This variety made it easy for everyone in our group to find something appealing. The only downside to the evening was a mix-up with one of the dishes. We specifically requested that it not be spicy, as one member of our party does not tolerate spice at all. Unfortunately, when the dish arrived, it was extremely spicy despite our request. That said, what could have been a lasting negative was handled exceptionally well by the staff. They were understanding, apologetic, and immediately issued a full refund for the uneaten dish without any fuss, which we greatly appreciated. Overall, the excellent service, quality of food, and professional way the staff handled the issue made for a genuinely enjoyable New Year’s Eve. We left feeling well looked after and satisfied, and we would absolutely return in the future.

  The food was tasty and the portions were very generous — we were already full after the first dish! The restaurant is quiet and beautiful, with nice modern music in the background. Simple but delicious cocktails. Highly recommend

  We have been twice and both times the food and service has been faultless. Last night we visited and I ordered a pizza for my little boy who is 4. The waitresses noticed I was picking the fresh herbs off the top and they came over and replaced it with a fresh one with no herbs. We didn't ask, they just noticed and went out of their way to make sure our food was perfect. The waitresses who served us were polite and engaging making the experience better than it should have been. My son took a bit of a shine to one of them with the brown hair, sorry I didn't catch your name! We will be back, thank you for making a rare night out exactly what we needed it to be!
