We went to the Meldiz as some of our party is really into Middle-Eastern food. This turned out to be a wise choice. We ordered an assortment of dishes and I think that the standout winner was the Mediterranean Kebab. I had the mixed kebab, which included the Mediterranean along with chicken etc, and the Mediterranean was the best -- nicely spiced. We all enjoyed ourselves.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Outstanding – The Best Meal of Our UK Trip! We visited The Meldiz Turkish Restaurant in Basingstoke with our family (two adults and two kids) on a chilly December evening, and it was hands-down the highlight of our week-long tour around the UK. From the moment we walked in, the warm, welcoming atmosphere enveloped us like a hug – cozy lighting, tasteful decor, and that irresistible aroma of charcoal-grilled meats wafting from the kitchen. The service was exceptional and truly personal. Owner Mursel and his lovely daughter served many of our dishes themselves, alongside a team of attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly staff who made us feel like valued guests rather than just customers. They were fantastic with the kids, offering recommendations and ensuring everything was perfect without ever feeling rushed. Now, onto the food – oh my goodness, every single dish was a masterpiece of authentic Turkish flavors, perfectly executed with fresh ingredients and that signature smoky char from the grill. We ordered: • Lamb Chops (4 pieces): These were sublime – tender, juicy cuts of lamb with a beautiful crispy exterior from the charcoal grill. Seasoned to perfection with herbs and spices that enhanced the natural richness of the meat, served with fluffy yellow rice (perfectly seasoned and aromatic), a creamy garlic sauce, fresh salad, and grilled vegetables. The chops were so flavorful and melt-in-your-mouth tender that we fought over the last one! • Ch

Visited here on a Thursday evening after seeing the fantastic reviews and have to now add my own, while whole heartedly recommending! From the moment we entered the service was exceptional, with the staff ensuring they prepared the best table possible and remaining so attentive throughout. The menu is a good size without being overbearing and there’s a few options beyond just Turkish. The basket of bread had some of the nicest tasting bread ever and the starter of king prawns in tomato sauce was to die for, insanely good. The main of mixed kebab was also seriously impressive - huge portion size with delicious and perfectly cooked meat with plenty of rice. There’s a nice range of drinks offered, including Turkish wine at a very reasonable price which was impressively nice. I’m not usually a fan of Turkish food but I would return here in a heartbeat, and with the staff, decor and food, it’s one of the most memorable meals I’ve had in a while. Exceptional restaurant!

First time eating in a Turkish restaurant for me. So other than kebab was not quite surev what to expect. Complementary nibbles were nice. My starter was Babaganoush which tasted lovely. Main meal was mixed kebab with steamed vegetables. This was lovely and the presentation was very good. My only criticism was the kebab meat seened a bit dry in my humble opinion. It may just have been a one off. Waiter service was good topping up my tap water, and everyone was really friendly. Gave them a tip as NO SERVICE CHARGE was included on the bill. Will definitely return if im back in the area.

I absolutely loved the food. Service was very friendly and thoughtful. Everything was just great, nothing but love! So why only four stars? Because I felt cheated that there's a service charge. It was mentioned in tiny print under the desserts on the menu. 10% extra on the whole bill.
