You might initially think that a trip to Spain’s Andalusia will include plenty of eateries offering Halal Spanish cuisine, but you’d be mistaken. The surprising truth is that most Halal restaurants in, for instance, Cordoba and al-Hambra are, in fact, Moroccan. It might surprise you to learn that we could not find a single authentic Spanish restaurant that’s Halal during our entire tour. Let us also dispel any assumptions you might harbour of readily finding high-end restaurants serving refined food. To the contrary, the Moroccan-oriented places in Andalusia are quite traditional, both in terms of their aesthetics and cuisine.

This was one of the worst experiences of going for food I ever had. The two of us were there on Saturday 24th January, looking especially for Arabic food. First they gave us wrong dish (a Tagine instead of the Couscous with vegetables that we ordered) which they left sitting in front of me for another 20 minutes, although they agreed to change it after a discussion. Finally we got the Couscous with vegetables, a salad with cheese, fries and Hummus. Well, the Hummus came right out of the fridge and was very cold. So the cold was dominating its flavour. The Couscous resembled a sort of mud bowl containing unrecognizable vegetables that floated in lots of liquid, only the huge chunks of carrots and some chick peas were easily identifiable. The bottom of the far too fluid dish was warm, but everything above was cold. This impression was topped by a complete taste of nothing at one side and a sweet sugary section on the other side. The whole thing was a repellent mess. The salad consisted of a plate orderly covered with big strips of lettuce and other seemingly leftovers with some rubbery cheese, all soaked with white and brownish tasteless sauces. It is ironic, that my friend is from Scotland and I am from Germany – most vegetables in our home supermarkets actually come from this region (Murcia and Almería). The seating was uncomfortable (sinking backwards with no leaning – you have to arrange a cushion if you find one) and the bathroom was filthy – trying not to sit down o

We had a great dinner, leaving the restaurant extremely satisfied! The staff were very nice and welcoming, the food was beyond our expectations and the overall experience is well recommended. We had falafel, chicken cous cous and a beef tajine and at the end of the dinner we couldn’t decide what we liked best because everything was so delicious.

We had dinner at this restaurant. When we walked in, we were ignored for quite a long time until someone finally took pity on us and showed us to a table. The place was pretty empty; apart from another couple, we were the only guests. We were only given the drinks menu, and later had to explicitly ask for the food menu. The atmosphere felt very gloomy. The food took a long time to arrive, even though we had not ordered much and the restaurant was far from busy. When we ordered, nobody informed us that our dishes only included the vegetables and that we would have to order any side dishes separately. We also only received cutlery after asking for it. On top of that, the food was very expensive for what was offered. Unfortunately, we really cannot understand the many positive reviews, so we cannot recommend this place.

The restaurant is a little off the beaten track but well worth searching for. Inside it is cozy and comfortable. We shared one starter and two mains. The lamb tagine was outstanding: the meat just fell off the bone and was ful of flavour. The chicken kebab was great too. Very glad we came here!
